INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS PAGE: USE CTRL+F to look for keywords. This is the central place for all the questions gathered about CPV.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

  • Q: Do CPV and PLV mean the same thing?

    • A: Yes, Meta called the feature Product Level Video until October 2024. In some regions it's still the most common naming. Since October 2024, the official name for the feature is Catalogue Product Videos. You can also hear about Dynamic Media in this context. Dynamic media is the capability of the campaign to show both videos and images. You need to enable it on the Ad level in the Campaign editor. Without Dynamic Media enabled, CPV won't be shown in your campaigns.

  • Q: What is CPV, and how does it work?

    • A: CPV (Catalog Product Videos) allows advertisers to generate video ads from their product catalog. You import your catalog to ROI Hunter build custom templates rendered in ROI Hunter and used as complementary content to your static images in dynamic ads. (Dynamic Media)

  • Q: How is CPV different from previous Meta video ad options?

    • A: Previous efforts were targeted towards video content in general, often representing several products in one video. These were unsuccessful as they were often compared to static image performance (video vs. image) and were very difficult to create and implement (manual process). CPV is being rendered on the product level (each product has its own video) and serves as a complementary asset to static images. It's up to Meta's algorithm to pick a static image or video for each impression (often based on the placement and user preferences)

  • Q: What type of products are suitable for CPV?

    • A: CPV is suitable for any business with a product catalog, making it ideal for e-commerce, retail, and other businesses selling tangible goods.

CREATIVE SHOP & CUSTOM TEMPLATES

  • Q: What are Creative Shop Templates?

    • A: They're pre-designed video ad templates from Meta's Creative Shop (Meta-approved), designed to make creating CPV ads quick and easy, ensuring best practices are followed.

  • Q: Why were these templates created?

    • A: Many advertisers lacked the resources or expertise to create video ads efficiently. The templates overcome this bottleneck.

  • Q: What are the benefits of using Creative Shop Templates?

    • A: Faster production time, improved ad quality (due to best practices), reduced costs, and a user-friendly interface for all levels of users.

  • Q: How do I access the Creative Shop templates?

    • A: Meta -> Creatives -> Creatives - videos -> Template library

  • Q: How do I use a Creative Shop Template to create my video ad?

    • A: You'll gain access to 37 pre-approved Meta Creative Shop templates, customizable with your brand's colors, fonts, sound, videos and images. Find the template you are interested in and click "Edit template" Once you edit any customizable elements, you can save the template. Once saved, it will appear in "Your templates" tab.

  • Q: How do I choose the right template for my products?

    • A: Consider the number of product images and brand assets you have. Use filtering option to look for optimal template for your assets.

    Q: How do I customize a template?

    • A: You can add and replace images, text, shapes, audio, and videos within the template. The interface has a drag-and-drop functionality to manage assets and layers.

  • Q: What makes a template more difficult to implement?

    • A: The complexity of the template is based on the number of assets (images and videos) required. More assets mean more work to set up and customize.

RENDERING

  • Q: Can I render videos based on the Product Set?

    • A: No, if you need to filter products based on the product set that includes to Segments in AND/OR relationship, start two rendering jobs with separate segments.

  • Q: How much does ROI Hunter compress the videos? Does it affect the video quality?

    • A: ROI Hunter renders videos in the quality required by Meta (1080x1080px for 1:1). Quality reflects Meta requirements.

  • Q: Can I only render videos for a specific list of products / Specific set of Product IDs??

    • A: Yes, you can choose particular product IDs in Product Insights under attributes and hand-pick the products they want to render templates for.

  • Q: How do I render videos for my Meta ad campaigns??

    • A: Use the "Catalogue Product Videos" tab in the ROI Hunter platform. Select your catalog, tags, segments, and the template(s) you want to use, and then start the rendering process.

  • Q: What is the purpose of using tags when rendering videos?

    • A: Tags allow you to group templates for simplified campaign management and organization. They allow you to use several templates (in design or format) in one ad.

  • Q: How can I monitor the rendering progress?

    • A: Use the Rendering Overview chart. This shows the number of videos rendered each day, broken down by reason (first-time renders, template updates, errors, etc.).

  • Q: What are the rendering limits?

    • A: The standard plan allows 500 renders per day, while the advanced plan increases this to 5000.

  • Q: What happens if a product is removed from a segment?

    • A: The videos for that product are deleted from the catalog, and the system will generate new videos if the product is later added back to a relevant segment.

CPV AD CREATION

  • Q: What is the purpose of the Dynamic Media feature?

    • A: It lets the Meta algorithm automatically select the best video or image (based on the selected tag and segment) for each ad impression depending on the placement (Facebook feed, Instagram Stories, etc.) and user preferences.

  • Q: Why is tagging important for CPV campaigns?

    • A: Tags help to organize and manage your videos, allowing you to select specific video groups for each campaign or ad.

  • Q: How can I preview my CPV ads before sending to Meta?

    • A: Use the "Advanced Preview" feature under "Advantage+ creative" to see a preview of your ads for various placements (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) before launching your campaign.

  • Q: Does all products in the Product Set applied to the campaign need to have CPV template created?

    • A: No. CPV serves as add-on on top of the static images (static templates). So you can still launch "All product" campaign and allow "Dynamic media" with only particular segment. In that case, algorithm will use video where it can, and use static images if video is not available. If the CPV segment is very small compared to the total Product Set, you won't see any uplift.

ADDITIONAL ASSETS VIA ADDITIONAL FEED

  • Q: Can I use mapped product videos without the template?

    • A: When additional feed is mapped to “video_0_url”, it will start showing for all ads that have “Dynamic media” turned on - even without a template.

  • Q: My product videos aren't in my Meta catalog or feed. How can I use them with CPV Templates?

    • A: ROI Hunter allows you to "pair" your videos, mapping them to your products. You'll need to add a "video_url" field to your product feed to connect your external videos.

  • Q: Where should my videos be hosted for this to work?

    • A: The videos must be internet-accessible via a URL. Services like Google Drive or a publicly accessible server are suitable. Videos needs to be share with everyone (public access).

  • Q: How do I map my external videos to my ROI Hunter catalog?

    • A: Go to "Meta Settings," then "Catalog Management," and "Feed Mapping." Find the "video_url" field and map it to your product data (using retailer ID or product group ID) from your external feed.

  • Q: Where are the final rendered videos hosted?

    • A: ROI Hunter hosts the final rendered videos, making them easily accessible for your campaigns.

TROUBLESHOOTING

  • Q:I have template built but no template can be found in campaign creation?

    • A: Check if videos are rendered.

  • Q: Fewer videos are being rendered than is number of products in the segment. Why?

    • A: Check if all products in the segment are active. There are possibly some sold-out products.
