This chapter explains how to launch CPV campaigns in Creative Factory and how videos work within your catalog ads.
The role of CPVs in your ads
Catalog Product Videos (CPVs) work as an add-on to your catalog ads, enhancing performance rather than acting as standalone creatives.
This means:
Ads typically deliver a mix of videos and images
For products with videos, Meta chooses between image or video based on user preference
For products without videos, the image is used
Note: Dynamic Media is automatically enabled at the ad level when you apply a video Template Set.
How CPV launching works in Creative Factory
With the transition to Creative Factory, CPV campaigns are now faster and easier to launch.
Previously, videos needed to be rendered in advance before campaigns could fully deliver. In Creative Factory, videos are created automatically after you apply a Template Set to your ads (see rendering details here).
As a result, campaigns can start immediately while video creation happens automatically in the background, reducing delays and removing much of the manual setup previously required.
Key benefits
✅ Launch campaigns without waiting
You no longer need to wait for videos to be rendered before starting delivery. Campaigns can go live immediately, while videos are created automatically as performance data becomes available.
✅ Video coverage grows naturally with performance
Instead of creating videos for the entire catalog upfront, videos are generated only for products that Meta starts promoting. This helps focus video delivery where it can have the biggest impact.
✅ Easier scaling across catalogs, markets and campaigns
Because rendering happens automatically, you can apply CPVs to large catalogs or multiple markets without planning rendering capacity or managing rollout phases.
✅ Fewer operational steps and less manual work
There is no need to manually trigger rendering, monitor completion before launch, or manage large batches of videos. Applying a Template Set is enough to start the entire process.
✅ More flexible campaign launches
You can test creatives, launch campaigns faster and iterate without being blocked by rendering timelines or catalog size limitations.
Step-by-step: How to launch CPV campaign
Go to Template Library.
Click Apply Templates.
Select an existing Template Set.
If you do not have any template sets yet or want to create a new one, enter its name in the dropdown and click Create. Then assign templates to the new Template Set.
Select the ads where you want to apply the Template Set.
(Optional) To limit video creation to a specific product segment, enable Segmented Creative and choose a segment.
Click Apply Changes.
Important: Nothing goes live until you click Apply Changes. After that, rendering starts automatically.
TIP: You can track rendering in the Videos Dashboard where you can see:
Number of videos rendered per day
Rendering progress
Reason for creation (first render, template update, etc.)
Template Sets
A Template Set is a collection of video templates used to create your product videos in different formats (1:1, 4:5, 9:16). When applying videos to ads, you always select a Template Set - not individual templates.
Editing Template Sets
✅ You can edit:
Individual templates in the Template Library
❌ You cannot edit:
The structure of an existing Template Set
Replace templates inside an existing Template Set
If you need a different combination of templates, create a new Template Set.
What to do when you reach the template limit
Each catalog supports:
Maximum 20 video templates
Typically up to 6 full Template Sets (3 ratios each)
If all slots are filled: You must disconnect an existing Template Set.
After disconnection:
Ads using that Template Set will either fall back to another connected set
Or serve images only
💡 Tip: Regularly review unused Template Sets to keep slots available.
