Snapchat Creatives

Updated over 5 months ago

ROI Hunter lets you create and apply dynamic creative templates to your Snapchat ads — helping you scale high-performing visuals across campaigns quickly and easily.

📈 Templated ads have been shown to deliver +18% higher ROAS on average, making them a powerful tool for performance growth.

Key highlight

  • Catalog-based structure: Snapchat templates in ROI Hunter are linked to individual catalogs — just like on Meta.

  • Flexible template management: Each catalog can hold up to 20 templates, which you can delete at any time (no need to remove them in reverse order like with Meta).

  • Optimized for Snapchat ad formats:

    • Collection Ads: use 1:1 templates

    • Story / Single Image: use 9:16 templates

  • Performance-safe: Applying templates does not reset Snapchat’s learning phase, so your performance history remains intact.

Once your template is ready, you can apply it directly to your ads from the Ad Creative Management tab.

💡 TIP: When you apply a template, any visuals or text (like product title or price) added in Snap Ads Manager will be replaced by the layout you’ve defined in ROI Hunter.

How to Create a Snapchat Template

Go to Snapchat > Creatives > Template Management

Here, you can:

  • Create a template (pick your format: square 1:1 or vertical 9:16)

  • See previews of your templates

  • Edit, duplicate, or delete existing templates

When opening the Template Editor, you’ll see templates from all Snapchat catalogs that you have connected to ROI Hunter. This makes it easy to copy elements from one catalog to another or start from a previous layout.

⚠️ IMPORTANT! Applying templates does not reset Snapchat’s learning phase, preserving your performance history.

Template Editor & Duplicating Templates

The Snapchat Template Editor works similarly to the one for Meta, but there’s one key difference: 📁 While Meta uses a shared template library, Snapchat templates are tied to individual catalogs.

When you open the Template editor, you’ll see templates from all connected catalogs listed in the Templates tab on the left.

This makes it easy to:

  • Reuse layouts across catalogs

  • Duplicate layers from existing templates

  • Make small tweaks without starting from scratch

You can copy layers from any template, adjust them as needed, and save the result to the currently selected catalog.

💡 TIP: This is especially useful if you want to apply the same creative concept across multiple business units or regions.

⚠️ IMPORTANT! Applying templates does not reset Snapchat’s learning phase, preserving your performance history.

Safe Zones in Snapchat Creatives

To help keep your ad content visible, the Snapchat Template Editor includes a Safe Zone toggle, just like Meta.

When turned on (bottom left corner), this highlights areas where you should avoid placing key content — such as text, logos, or CTAs — to prevent overlap with Snapchat’s UI.

🖼️ Safe zones help you keep key elements visible by avoiding overlap with the Snap UI.

  • They’re available for Story and Single image ads in the 9:16 format.

  • For Collection Ads (1:1), safe zones don’t apply in this case, the creative always displays in full without UI interruptions.

How to Apply Templates to Ads

Once you’ve created a template, it’s time to put it to work.

🧭 Head to the Ad Creative Management tab to see all your Snapchat dynamic ads, including:

  • Template status

  • Ad status

  • Last 7 days’ spend

  • Campaign and ad set details

You can apply a template by clicking “Add template” next to the specific ad.

💡 TIP: Use the Filter Ads tool to quickly narrow down ads by name, campaign, or ad set.

Format compatibility in the apply modal

  • Collection ads: only 1:1 templates are available.

    • The 9:16 templates are disabled as they are not recommended for Collection Ads.

  • Story / Single image: only 9:16 templates are shown.

    • The 1:1 templates are disabled as they are not recommended for Story/Single Image ads.
