Chapter 2: How to work with Image Template Editor

Updated over 2 weeks ago

The Image Template Editor is where you turn standard product images into eye-catching visuals for ads. You don’t need design skills or professional tools - if you can work with basic image editors, you can use the Template Editor.

It lets you build templates visually and then reuse them automatically at scale.

Main functions in the editor

The editor gives you simple, visual controls to build and adjust your templates.

From the left-side menu, you can:

  • Change the aspect ratio (1:1, 4:5, 9:16)

  • Adjust the background color

  • Upload additional images (from your computer or via URL; supported formats: JPG, JPEG, PNG, SVG)

  • Add text layers

  • Add shape layers

Built-in catalog checks

As you work, the system checks all connected catalogs to make sure every asset and data point used in your template is available. If something is missing, you’ll be alerted before the template goes live.

Working with layers

Layers are the core of how the Image Template Editor works.

Each element in your template - image, text, shape, frame, or icon - exists as its own layer and can be edited independently. To move, resize, or edit an element, simply select its layer and adjust it directly.

The order of layers matters. Layers placed higher in the stack appear on top, while layers below may be hidden or covered depending on their position.

For each layer, you can:

  • Show or hide it

  • Duplicate or delete it

  • Adjust its opacity

This makes it easy to fine-tune layouts without affecting other elements.

Automatically control layers with conditions

The Image Template Editor allows you to show or hide layers automatically based on:

  • Product data from your feed

  • Time-based conditions

To set this up, click the Condition icon on any layer and define the rule. This keeps your creatives dynamic and context-relevant without manual updates.

Common examples:

  • Show a “Free shipping” badge only when the product price is above a certain value

  • Display “Black Friday” or “Weekend Sale” badges only during specific dates

Using shapes

Shapes help you create clean, professional-looking visuals even without a designer.

You can start from seasonal templates (for example Spring or Christmas) or combine shapes, lines and icons to build your own visual style that fits your brand.

Dynamic text from your product feed

Text layers can pull values directly from your product feed.

Green buttons in the text menu represent available feed columns. When you use them in your text, the value is automatically replaced for each product.

This allows you to create personalized, data-driven creatives that scale across large catalogs without manual editing.
