Why I do not see data from Google Analytics for my Ads/Ad Sets/Campaigns?

Here you will find basic troubleshooting in case you don't see correct data from Google Analytics for your ads

Updated over 12 months ago

Before you begin checking and troubleshooting issues with Google Analytics, ensure that the correct Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property is linked to your market. For more details, refer to our article on connecting analytical assets.

Check permissions

Please ensure you have access to your Google Analytics 4 property. If you’ve changed your password, ROI Hunter loses permissions, preventing us from retrieving your data, which may result in missing data. In this case, you might see an alert indicating the lost connection to Google Analytics, along with an option to re-authenticate.

Check time range

If you notice a discrepancy between the numbers in Google Analytics and ROI Hunter, you may be viewing different time ranges. Please ensure that the time range is set the same in both platforms.

Check link redirects

By default, ROI Hunter matches Google Analytics 4 data using the utm_id parameter, which is automatically added to the links of all ads created in ROI Hunter. When a Meta user clicks on your ad and is redirected to your website, all UTM parameters, including utm_id, must stay in the URL. If your web server removes or modifies any of these parameters, we won’t be able to retrieve the data correctly.

Wrong or missing utm_id

Ads created outside of ROI Hunter may not include the utm_id parameter in links to your website or app, preventing the correct pairing of GA4 data with ad performance data. To ensure proper tracking, add a unique identifier to the utm_id parameter as described here.

To verify if the utm_id is present and correct, you can check the Setup view in Meta Ads Manager or simply click on your ad on Meta and review the URL.

Have you checked all the steps and your Google Analytics data is still missing. Contact us by the chat button and we will take a look at it 😉
